Can you imagine! Keep your kids close or separate them as needed. It would be a game changer if the second row had the middle seat be removable but then the other two seats can be slid together and back and forth. We would love to see the third-row seats change to ones that you can remove entirely if needed, or for them to be designed in a way that when folded you still have storage space underneath them.Īnother change that we think would be incredible in an SUV, especially the larger ones is for the second row to have the same sort of technology for the seats that some minivans have. Even with the seats down, we felt we had the same amount of storage as we would in our Honda CRV. We are not fans of how the third-row of seats often folds down and then takes up all of the space in the boot. While we did not use all 7 seats we do feel this is still something that can be improved upon for 7-seater SUVs everywhere. AN SUV WITH ROOM FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY AND THE GIANT SWAN FLOATīeing a vehicle that can fit 7 people, it is considerably large in size. Keyless entry for the second-row is handy as well if you’ve forgotten something in the vehicle, personally, I’m always forgetting the diaper bag there in a vehicle. How lovely would that be in the winter? The headlamps are auto-leveling which really helps with lighting the road while traveling and going over things like bumps or up a steep hill. It was impressive and happened right at the perfect moments! The driver, passenger, and second-row seats are heated. The first time this happened Jason and I kept looking at each other and asking if that had just happened. What else was offered in the Tech model? The review mirror and the side mirrors were auto-dimming. While this may not be exactly “tech” it is brilliant and innovative for people driving kids in vehicles. The girls also spotted the rear sunshades that are situated in the windows. I’ll be honest, as parents, we appreciated that too for our road trip especially. The girls loved that there was a 9″ display entertainment system. It was jam-packed with just that, a whole bunch of technology. It can feel a bit overwhelming when researching the Acura MDX, there are multiple models Navi, Tech, Elite, Elite 6 passenger, and Sport Hybrid. For the girls, there’s always one thing that will instantly impress them too in a vehicle. We noticed things we appreciated almost immediately with the Acura MDX. Shifting into driving a luxury SUV didn’t take us long to get accustomed too. It was definitely a change, and a welcomed one at that, from our usual vehicle when on the road and camping. We had the opportunity to try out the 2018 Acura MDX. What we haven’t shared about yet is the vehicle we brought with us. All opinions are my own.We shared about our family camping adventure with the kids this summer. *I was provided with the vehicle to drive for this review and was not compensated. What do you get for that additional spend? Acura vehicles typically have much higher resale value later on, are extremely reliable, and are high in quality ratings. The Acura MDX starts at approximately $56,000. You have to make a conscious decision to spend more than you would for a minivan or domestic crossover. The styling and convenience of the Acura MDX doesn’t come cheap, however. I suppose it makes sense it’s the most popular family vehicle in my neighbourhood! I think for a cross-over 7-seater, this one might be my favourite too. A hybrid, powered by a 3.0-liter V-6 and a trio of electric motors is also available. I love the technology integrations of Apple CarPlay, steering wheel controls, and key-set memory of seat location and adjustments. Automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and dual infotainment screens are standard navigation and rear-seat entertainment are optional. It would be ideal for family road trips!Īcura always offers the best bells and whistles (I’m a little biased, as I’ve enjoyed Honda vehicles myself for the past 13 years). With that row folded down, there is plenty of cargo space too. I love that it seats 7, with the third-row seat. But the MDX handles more like a car, very smooth and easy to zip around in. In comparing minivans to larger SUVs, I always find that the bigger vehicles drive so rigid, like a truck. It reminds me of my minivan, in the way that it handles, actually. I loved that the MDX is large, but doesn’t feel large. I was interested to see why it’s so popular, after all. So I was excited to drive this beauty for a week. I would go so far as to say it is the most popular vehicle in my children’s school parking lot! No lie. The Aura MDX is an extremely popular “Mom Vehicle” in my neighbourhood.
